Informatica Powercenter Domain Upgrade : 9.5.1 to 9.6.1

Download powercenter installation software from Informatica site.

During the software purchase, Informatica will provide a site link, user ID, and password to access the Informatica electronic software download site. Here are the options for download.

• Use Download Manager from Akamai Technologies. Download Manager allows you to pause and restart the download process ( recommended ).
• Direct download from the download site.

Review the UNIX Requirements.

1. Install the Java Development Kit.

2. Review the system requirements.

3. Review the upgrade memory requirements.

4. Review the environment variables.

5. Verify the file descriptor settings.

6. Review the maximum heap size.

Prepare the Domain.

1. Back Up the Domain : Back up the domain with infasetup using "BackupDomain".
2. Verify database user account requirements.
3. Shutdown the Domain : Using the infaservice command.

Extract Installer Files.

Download the tar file. "961HF1_Server_Installer_linux-x64.tar" used for demo purposes. Un-tar the file to extract the installation files. Execute install.sh.

  1. Install or upgrade Informatica.
   Select this option if the machine does not have Informatica services installed or if it has Informatica 9.6.0 or an earlier version installed.

  2. Install or upgrade Data Transformation Engine Only.
   Select this option to install or upgrade only Data Transformation Engine.

  3. Apply Hotfix 1 to Informatica 9.6.1.
   Select this option if the machine has Informatica 9.6.1 installed.

Enter the choice(1, 2 or 3):1
 

Step 1: Installation Type.

Select "2" for upgrade from 9.5.1 to 9.6.1.

Select this option to perform a full installation of Informatica 9.6.1 HotFix 1.

Verify the upgrade pre-requisites and complete the pre-upgrade tasks before you continue.
Database Requirements: -Requires Oracle, IBM DB2, Microsoft SQL Server or Sybase ASE.

One of the following product versions must be installed on this machine:
- Informatica 9.1.0
- Informatica 9.5.0
- Informatica 9.5.1
- Informatica 9.6.0

Disk Space Requirement: 7 GB
Memory Requirement (RAM): 4 GB

   Pre-upgrade tasks:
- Back up the domain configuration repository.
- For a DB2 database, verify that the tablespace has a page size of 32K.
- Verify that the domain is shut down.

Step 3: Upgrade Directory.

Select directory to upgrade.

Information !!! The encryption key will be generated in /opt/infaqa/Informatica/9.6.1/isp/config/keys with the file name siteKey. You must keep the name of the domain, the keyword for the encryption key, and the encryption key file in a secure location. The domain name, keyword, and encryption key are required when you change the encryption key for the domain or move a repository to another domain.
